The College Football season will wrap up on Monday with the National Championship game in New Orleans Louisiana at the Mercedes Benz Dome. The top ranked LSU Tigers will take on the defending national champion Clemson Tigers in a battle of undefeated teams. LSU dismantled Oklahoma in the Peach Bowl by a score of 63-28 to secure a shot a the Championship.

Clemson had to defeat a strong Ohio State team to qualify but the defense was able to stand tall enough to win on the final drive to keep their chances at repeating alive. This will be a deep dive into the matchups and the NCAAF betting totals to get you prepared for the game.

Clemson vs LSU 2020 College Football Championship Game Odds & Prediction

Why Bet on the Clemson Tigers?

Head Coach Dabo Swinney will look to guide his Clemson team to their third championship while under his tenure. He has an .800 winning percentage since he took over in 2008, which is the second highest in the country over that time span.

Trevor Lawrence is in his second season at Clemson and has yet to be beaten since he arrived. A staggering record of 25-0 and a national championship last season are both impressive but maybe his best performance came in his previous game. He had 259 yards passing with two touchdowns and 107 rushing yards, which is a career high, against the toughest defense he has faced all season. He struggled early this season with INTs but has thrown 201 passes since his last one.

Travis Etienne has also been a driving force for this team as in the Fiesta Bowl he accumulated 13 touches for 134 yards and three touchdowns. Top receiver Tee Higgins is questionable to play in this game with a shoulder injury and would be a massive loss if he cannot suit up for Clemson.

Why Bet on the LSU Tigers?

Joe Burrow is looking to pair a championship trophy with his Heisman trophy he won earlier this season already. He set the record for most passing touchdowns in a game with seven and the passing yardage mark with 493 yards despite not playing a majority of the fourth quarter.

Justin Jefferson was his primary target in that game with four touchdowns of his own but Ja’marr Chase helped form the duo that paced this team through the air this season. Together they account for 38 of Burrows passing touchdowns this season. The offense is one of the most explosive we have ever seen but the defense is nothing short of impressive in their own rights.

Since Grant Delpit got healthy before the Texas A&M game, the Tigers have been one of the stingiest in the country as they are only allowing 15 points a game over that stretch. K’lavon Chaisson will be looking to provide the pressure coming off the edge to hopefully force Lawrence into bad decisions against this talented LSU secondary.

Clemson vs LSU Betting Pick

MyBookie currently has the line for this game at 70 points which is fairly high but respectable considering both sides having a lethal offense. LSU is currently the minus-7 favorites to take home the title in their home state.

This will be one of the best QB matchups in recent memory and should be a shootout as a result but look for Clemson to cover the plus-7 spread. They have the motivation as all year they have heard how LSU is the best team despite not having lost in almost two years.

Linebacker Isaiah Simmons will be huge for this Clemson defense as he has the speed in the passing game to take away most of the middle of the field from Burrow. Dabo has shown an innate ability to scheme circles around some of the best coaches in the country and a result will lead his team to yet another National Title for the Clemson Tigers.
