Written by on July 1, 2020

The third week of ONE Esports Dota 2 SEA League will kick off this Thursday, June 2, with two fixtures featuring Reality Rift taking on NEW Esports, followed by a clash between BOOM Esports and T1. Initially, there were supposed to be three fixtures played on Thursday, however, Execration withdrew from the competition on Saturday, due to roster changes, which awarded Geek Fam with a forfeit win. Let’s take a closer look at the upcoming matches so you can set down your bets against their Dota 2 odds.

ONE Esports Dota 2 SEA League – June 2 matches

Reality Rift vs NEW Esports – Thursday, June 2 – 16:00 SGT

Despite being a relatively unknown team, NEW Esports did not disappoint with what they have shown so far this competition. Throughout the opening two weeks, Hsien Wan “Lance” Fua and his crew managed a fairly impressive 3-2-0 record, which sits them second in the SEA League standings behind only Fnatic.

Looking back, NEW Esports defeated T1, Neon Esports and claimed a forfeit win against Execration, while they managed a draw against Adroit and TNC Predator. Those stalemates, however, are not particularly bad, considering Adroit and TNC are two of the strongest SEA Dota 2 teams.

Reality Rift, on the other side, managed a 1-2-2 record and considering they as well received a free win against Execration, Reality Rift have yet to win a single match. So far, Reality Rift played stalemates against BOOM Esports and Neon Esports, but lost to Fnatic and T1.

Reality Rift and NEW Esports have yet to meet on the battlefield, however, it does not take a lot to recognise NEW Esports as the favourites. Although NEW Esports have yet to see any notable success in their rather short lifespan, Lance and co. just recently fought their way into the grand finals of Asia Summer Championship by losing only two series out of 10 played and only six maps out of 23.

These online matches tend to be close, but NEW Esports looked too sharp in recent weeks for us to consider to bet on a draw, let alone Reality Rift to win. Side with NEW Esports to continue their impressive run and cement themselves as a playoffs-worthy team.

Prediction: NEW Esports to win

BOOM Esports vs T1- Thursday, June 2 – 18:00 SGT

BOOM Esports and T1 will meet for the third time in their history after they previously clashed twice at the BTS Pro Series Season 2: SEA tournament in April. In the two previous meetings, each squad won once with a 2-0 record, so there is not a lot to set them apart when it comes to their head-to-head record. BOOM Esports, however, enjoyed far more success throughout the ONE Esports Dota 2 SEA League.

So far, BOOM Esports played three stalemates against Reality Rift, Neon Esports and Fnatic, as well as picked up a very valuable 2-0 win against Geek Fam on Saturday. T1, on the other side, defeated Reality Rift and Execration, played a stalemate against Adroit, and lost to NEW Esports and Fnatic.

T1 are also 4-3-3 in their last 10 fixtures, while BOOM Esports hold onto a 4-4-2 record from their last 10. Overall, BOOM have shown a more in recent weeks so it makes sense for them to be priced as favourites. BOOM also made it to the finals of both ESL One Birmingham 2020 – Online: Southeast Asia and BTS Pro Series Season 2: Southeast Asia, while T1 made little to no noise in their competitive endeavours.

This match can still easily end in a draw, but for that to happen BOOM Esports would have to drop the ball, and we would not count on that happening. Bet on BOOM Esports to win.

Prediction: BOOM Esports to win
