2019 Charles Schwab Challenge Odds, Preview & Prediction

Written by on May 22, 2019

Country music legend George Strait’s famous song “Does Fort Worth Ever Cross Your Mind” will be on the minds of many golf fans this weekend. Why did you ask? That’s because this weekend’s Charles Schwab Challenge will take place at the Colonial Country Club in Fort Worth. The field at the Charles Schwab Challenge is by invite-only. There will be 122 golfers vying for the title. The Colonial Country Club is a par 70, 7200-yard course with narrow fairways. The wind has been known to play a factor here, so that could affect scoring for the weekend. Coming off of the PGA Championship last weekend, this could be a tournament that many of the top names didn’t attend. However, many big names that were invited accepted their invitation and entered the field. The field includes 7 of the top 15 players in the world rankings. Let’s take a look at some of the top Golf Betting contenders for the Charles Schwab Challenge title.

2019 Charles Schwab Challenge Odds, Preview & Prediction

Justin Rose

With his 2018 victory over Brooks Koepka, Rose returns as the defending champion. He struggled at the PGA Championship, but coming to a place where he has had success could spark Rose’s game.

Jon Rahm

In his first 2 starts at Colonial, Rahm has finished tied for 2nd and tied for 5th. This course is built for his game. Look for big things from him.

Jordan Spieth

Spieth won here in 2016. He has made the cut in all six of his appearances at the Schwab Challenge. He has finished second twice. Spieth plays well here and could be a factor come Sunday.

Rickie Fowler

Fowler has played consistent golf in 2019. He has five top 20 finishes in the 2019 season. He has three top 15 finishes at the Colonial.

Tony Finau

This long hitter will use that to his advantage this weekend. The course is set up for him to be successful.

Xander Schauffele

Schauffele is currently the 9th ranked golfer in the world. He has struggled at this course, but his consistent play in 2019 leads the experts to believe that he’ll be a contender for the title.

Francesco Molinari

This is his first time playing at the Schwab Challenge. The 7th ranked golfer in the world will be looking for his first tour win since the Arnold Palmer Invitational in March. Some other names to keep an eye on are: Danny Lee, Bryson DeChambeau, and Ryan Palmer.

Final Prediction

They say that everything is bigger in Texas, but that statement doesn’t pertain to the fairways and greens at the Colonial County Club. If the players are able to handle the strong Texas winds and are able to keep the ball in the narrow fairways, that will be huge in becoming a contender for the title. The winner in the field of 122 will take home $1.314 million of the $7.3 million purse plus 500 FedExCup Points. With this star-studded field, will we see a relative unknown step up and make a name for himself, or will one of the world’s top golfers take home the prize? The Charles Schwab Challenge will be sure to be a great follow up to the PGA Championship.
