PGA 2019 The Northern Trust Odds, Preview & Expert Prediction

Written by on August 8, 2019

The PGA Tour is about to crank up the intensity. As the golfer enter this week’s Northern Trust event at Liberty National in Jersey City, New Jersey, a lot is up for grabs. This tournament is the first event of the FedEx Cup Playoffs, where the winner takes the top prize of $15 million. With the FedEx Playoffs in full swing, this is a loaded field. With this being the first of three tournaments in the playoff format, the top 125 golfers in the world were invited to the Northern Trust. With that being said, many of the world’s top golfers accepted the invite and will be vying for the $15 million final prize. With the playoff format going from four to three events, the elimination process has changed. After this weekend’s tournament, 55 golfers will be eliminated from contention. With the high stakes involved, the competition will be fierce at Liberty National. Let’s take a look at some of the Golf Betting favorites to take home the title at The Northern Trust, and continue on in the FedEx playoff series.

PGA 2019 The Northern Trust Odds, Preview & Expert Prediction

Brooks Koepka

Koepka has had an awesome 2019. Entering the playoffs, Koepka is the #1 golfer in the world, and the leader in the FedEx Cup point standings. With three wins on the season, with his most recent one being two weeks ago at the St. Jude in Memphis, Koepka has a great shot at winning any tournament that he enters.

Rory McIlroy

With 12 top 10’s in his 16 starts this season, Rory has been very consistent. He has two wins on the season, and other than his disappointing showings in the majors, he has been superb. He currently sits second in the FedEx Cup point standings.

Webb Simpson

In the last two events, Simpson has finished in second place. He hasn’t finished outside of the top 30 in any tournament since April. Webb is on a roll, and he looks to continue on that roll this weekend.

Dustin Johnson

A two-time winner of the Northern Trust, Johnson enjoys this event. Johnson has been on the outside looking in as of late, but look for that to change this weekend.

Bryson DeChambeau

The defending champion at the Northern Trust, DeChambeau is having a nice 2019. Even though he hasn’t played well as of late, he still has five top 10 finishes on the season.

Justin Thomas

Thomas is now healthy and looking to get back into the top tier of golfers. Prior to his injury, Thomas was playing at an elite level. He’s been overlooked as of late, so look for that to change here.

Adam Scott

Winless on the season, Scott would love for that to change here. He has won at Liberty National before, and he wants nothing more than to be victorious in 2019. In his last five tournaments, he has finished in the top 10 three times. Look for good things from Scott this weekend. With $15 million up for grabs, we should see a very competitive Northern Trust event. With only three events in this year’s FedEx Playoff series, the golfers will need to play well to stay in the hunt for the big purse. Liberty National should be the place to be this weekend.
