On Saturday, the Horse Racing world will take center stage, as the Breeders Cup Classic will be ran. The best dirt racehorses in the world will converge upon Santa Anita Park to run 1 ¼ miles. This year’s race is wide open, as this field is one of the most competitive in history. The race will be televised on NBC, and is scheduled for a 8:44 PM Eastern post time.

Let’s take a look at the horse racing betting field and preview all of the horses that are entered.

2019 Breeders Cup Odds, TV Schedule, Entire List & Preview

Code of Honor: 4-1

The 3-year old will be ridden by John Velazquez. Code of Honor is known as a closer, and can take off with great speed at the end of races. In his nine starts this season, he has five wins, two second place finishes, and one third place. He is in the running for the 2019 Eclipse Award for best 3-year old male.

Elate: 6-1

The mare will be ridden by Jose Ortiz. She is the third highest earner in the field, and she has yet to be beaten in 1 ¼ mile races. She has won the last two Delaware Handicaps, and is a past Alabama Stakes champion as well. She has only finished outside of the top three twice in her 18 career starts.

Higher Power: 6-1

Flavien Prat will be the jockey for this colt. Consistency has been a big issue for Higher Power. Ih his 15 career starts, he has won five, finished second once, and gotten third on five occasions. Higher Power has the ability to be near the top of the pack, but sometimes he chooses to hang near the rear.

Math Wizard: 30-1

This colt won the $1 million Pennsylvania Derby last month, making his presence known. Under trainer Saffie Joseph, he has improved in every race, and is now ready for the big time at Santa Anita. This horse has the ability to win the Breeders Cup Classic.

McKinzie: 3-1

The Bob Baffert horse is the most powerful horse in this race. He is the most accomplished horse in the field, but at times, he seems disinterested. In some of his races, he has totally outclassed the field, while in others, he has finished near the back. If he shows up to run, he could run away from the field.

Mongolian Groom: 12-1

The gelding has a victory over McKinzie this year, as he won the Awesome Again Stakes in September. Jockey Abel Cedillo leads the Santa Anita jockey standings.

Owendale: 15-1

Although he has three wins on the season in Grade 3 stakes, and two solid finishes in Grade 1 stakes, we’re still unsure if he’s ready for the big time. Hall of Famer Javier Castellano will fill in for normal rider Florent Geroux.

Seeking the Soul: 20-1

Seeking the Soul is the leading money winner in the field. After a good start to the season, Seeking the Soul has struggled as of late. If he can regain his early season form, he could be a contender.

Vino Rosso: 4-1

Vino Rosso has had quite the 2019 season. He has won two of his five starts this season, and he most recently finished first in the Jockey Club Gold Cup. However, he was disqualified for bumping Code of Honor in the home stretch. In both of his 1 ¼ mile races this year, he has crossed the finish line first.

War of Will: 20-1

Since running well in the Preakness and Kentucky Derby, War of Will has struggled. If his stamina has improved, he can race with anyone, if he continues to have stamina issues, he’ll fall to the rear of the pack.
