Bellator MMA is returning with a bang on Friday night, as the World’s Most Famous Arena will play host to Bellator 222. Madison Square Garden, also known as the Mecca of fight sports, will be ready for Friday night’s stacked card. In the main event, the Welterweight Grand Prix will take center stage, as welterweight champion Rory MacDonald will take on Neiman Gracie. Not only is this bout a semi-final match in the Welterweight Grand Prix, but it’s also for MacDonald’s title. The winner of this match will advance to the finals of the Grand Prix to take on Douglas Lima. Let’s take a look at the latest MMA Odds for this event.

Bellator 222 Odds, Preview & Expert Picks

MacDonald Key Factor

The veteran fighter MacDonald has been on the downward trend as of late. In his last five fights, he’s 2-2-1. MacDonald will be looking to win the fight with his striking ability, while Gracie who has won 8 of his 9 fights via submission, will use his grappling and Brazilian jiu-jitsu skills to try to defeat the champion. If this turns into a striking war, the advantage will go to MacDonald. If the fight hits the mat, look for Gracie to have his hand raised in victory. The co-main event will see two UFC legends collide, as former UFC light heavyweight champion Lyoto Machida takes on Chael Sonnen. This will be a fight of contrasting styles, as former NCAA wrestler will look to take the fight to the mat, while Machida is known for his striking ability. Machida can still work on the mat as well, as he has a black belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu. Machida enters the bout on a three-fight win streak, while Sonnen was destroyed in the first round by Fedor Emelianenko in his last bout. The contrasting styles should make for an entertaining fight between the two fighters who are coming to the end of their careers. The Bellator Bantamweight title will be up for grabs, as former Rizin Fighting Federation fighters Darrion Caldwell and Kyoji Horiguchi will tangle for Caldwell’s Bellator Bantamweight title. Both fighters come into the bout on good streaks, as Horiguchi has won his last 12, while Caldwell has taken four of his last five. Caldwell’s one loss was to Horiguchi last December. Horiguchi defeated Caldwell by submission.

Great Light Weight Fighter

Horiguchi is one of the best lighter weight fighters on the planet. He has supreme quickness and uses his quickness for a quick-striking style. Caldwell will struggle to stay away from the strikes of Horiguchi. Caldwell will need to keep him at bay if he wants to retain his title. In another main card fight, “El Jefe” Dillon Danis will take on Max Humphrey. The brash Danis is mostly known for being close friends and training partner with Connor McGregor. Danis will look to use his jiu-jitsu skills to defeat his weaker opponent. With a stacked card with big-name fighters, Bellator 222 looks to be one of the best cards the company has produced in a long time. And what better place to host a great event than at Madison Square Garden? The World’s Most Famous Arena will be primed for a great night of MMA.
