MMA Betting: ONE Championship – Battleground Analysis

Written by on July 29, 2021

It has been nearly six weeks since the last time fans have seen ONE Championship. Finally, fans and bettors will get an explosive event to watch after the long break.

The next ONE event will showcase the talents of current champion Sam-A Gaiyanghado and challenger Prajanchai P.K.Saenchaimuaythaigym. Both fighters have interesting backgrounds and should be put on a show.  Let’s have a closer look at the main fight of the event so you can set down your bets against their MMA odds.

Strawweight Muay Thai World Championship: SAM-A vs. PRAJANCHAI

  • Date: Fri, Jul 30, 4 PM GMT+8
  • Venue: Singapore Indoor Stadium

Main Event Breakdown

The main event should bode well for fans in the sense that these are arguably the best Muay Thai fighters on the planet. Current Strawweight champion Sam-A Gaiyanghado will be making another attempt at defending his belt to a rising star in newcomer Prajanchai.

Both fighters are well known and have achieved success through Muay Thai. One key factor to look into is their age difference. Sam-A is 37 and faces another young and hungry fighter looking to take his spot.

For ONE Championship, Sam-A is arguably the best Muay Thai fighter and potentially top five compared to other fighting leagues. His record speaks volumes and is currently at 370-47-9 with a ton of experience in his 25 years of fighting.

Sam-A has experience holding onto championships with a few different weight classes. Previously, he has won his last three battles and is up against another contender in the division.

Prajanchai joined forces with ONE Championship about two months ago. Even though he has not fought very long with ONE, he still has a lot of experience for such a young fighter with a record of 337-51-3.

Prajanchai has a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to knock off a long-reigning champion for his promotional debut. This would be an excellent introduction to the banner and of course, propel him to be a star.

Odds for Main Event

The market has no odds available just yet for this event between Sam-A and Prajanchai. When they do become available, keep in mind that the odds are subject to changes.

Potential Winner of this Event

Sam-A against Prajanchai could wind up being one of the best Muay Thai fights of the year and the top fight out of the last several years. There are some slight differences to note between these two.

Prajanchai definitely has an aggressive speed advantage, however, Sam-A has excellent striking power that could cause problems. Sam-A is going to have to find a way to settle down the distance between the two without taking on Prajanchai’s quick counter strikes.

Prajanchai has an excellent opportunity here if he can execute. If he can avoid Sam-A’s power and keep the high-intensity volume up, then he has a shot.

This is much easier said than done, especially against a fighter that has almost more experience fighting than Prajanchai has been alive. Look for Prajanchai to put up an excellent fight, but Sam-A should be able to ward off another attempt at the belt with a victory here.
