UFC 202 Diaz vs McGregor Betting Predictions

Written by on August 17, 2016

In what many are calling one of the greatest rematches in the history of UFC, Conor McGregor will battle against Nate Diaz this coming Saturday. The event will take place at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, as part of the Welterweight Fight at UFC 202. Just six months ago, Diaz pulled the upset over McGregor in the UFC featherweight championship. This will feature a sold out crowd, and certainly get a record crowd in the pay-per-view world. Let’s take a look at the fighters and give you our best free MMA pick for this fight:

Here’s a Look at the UFC 202 Diaz vs McGregor Betting Predictions

Why Bet on Conor McGregor?

Conor McGregor was made a heavy favorite in the last fight, as he was unbeaten. Last time, he was unable to get the blows needed to knock out Diaz. McGregor ran out of gas in his final attempts, and eventually tapped to a rear-naked choke late in the bout. McGregor has a ton of momentum, and motivation coming into this one. He is coming off a blasting over Jose Aldo, who is known as one of the best pound for pound fighters in the game. Look for him to fight with much more urgency in this one. Also, in the end, the full round of training for this fight is going to give him a great advantage.

Why Bet on Nate Diaz?

Diaz in the first fight took it on 11 days’ notice, following Rafael dos Anjos dropping out. During that, the bout was moved from 155 pounds to 170 pounds. Diaz is bigger, much like he was last time they got together, and also has a two inch reach advantage. Diaz has the advantage on the ground, and probably has better stamina. He will want to get off to a quick start in the scoring department, as it’s not likely going to end in a knock-out. There has been much talk about his weight “leading” to his win last time. His 10 professional losses may back that up.

My Betting Pick & Prediction

When these two fought the first time at UFC 200, they had McGregor listed at -155 back on March 28th. The line then moved to McGregor +100 when the fight was made on March 30th. Since the fight was then canceled, and rebooked for UFC 202, McGregor reopened at -125, and Diaz at +100. Obviously, you have heard how the first fight went, with Diaz weathering the storm, and later coming to a win. Now, they are on a little more even playing field. A second loss to Diaz would pretty much damage McGregor’s career as he knew it. Taking Connor McGregor this year at -130 at MyBookie.ag is the best choice to make for UFC 202. As Diaz has said for weeks, he is ready to send Diaz back to his weight class, and make no doubt about it who is the better fighter.
