UFC Fight Night 158 will be looking to answer some questions. The event that will be held at the Rogers Arena in Vancouver, British Columbia will have some bouts that could solidify the divisional rankings within the UFC. Let’s make some UFC Betting predictions.
UFC Fight Night 158 Cerrone vs Gaethje Odds, Preview & Picks
The MatchupOne of these bouts will be a lightweight battle between Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone and Justin Gaethje. After UFC 242, the lightweight division seemed to gain a little clarity. With Khabib Nurmagomedov unifying the lightweight championships, it moved Tony Ferguson to the #1 contender.
The winner of the Cerrone-Gaethje bout could propel themselves into the title mix as well. The loser probably falls down the lightweight rankings, and could maybe never get a shot at the title again. A lot is riding on this bout.
Cowboy Cerrone is one of the most well-known UFC fighters. Cerrone enters the bout with a 36-12 career record. He has split his last 10 fights, and as he is nearing the end of his career, he knows that another loss could end any chance he has of ever fighting in a significant match again. With the loss to Tony Ferguson in his last fight, Cerrone is a desperate fighter.
Cerrone can brawl with the best of them. He uses numerous varieties of kicks and knee shots to stymie his opponents. Cerrone can also grapple on the canvas, as he has 17 career submissions. The Cowboy is a fan favorite, and he will have the Canadian crowd in his corner.
Gaethje With Tons of SuccessGaethje enters the fight with a record of 20-2. Gaethje will look to take the fight to Cerrone. With his brawling style, Gaethje will be looking to land the big blow to end the fight for Cerrone. He’ll use his quickness and his non-stop attacking style to his advantage. Cerrone has been known to have trouble with fighters who fight with the same style as Gaethje.
If Cerrone can outlast the constant pressure from Gaethje, he’ll have a shot. If the numerous strikes that Gaethje will throw stymie Cerrone, it could be a short ride for the Cowboy.
In the co-main event, a light heavyweight bout, Glover Teixeira will take on Nikita Krylov. The 40 year old Teixeira has won his last two fights over younger, more athletic fighters. A strong grappler, Teixiera used his wrestling skills to take the fighters down, and end their evenings on the mat.
Krylov won’t shy away from engaging Teixeira. Krylov loves the attacking, brawling style, and he will take the fight right to Glover Teixeira. Krylov’s main weakness is his inability to defend himself against the opponent’s attack.
If Krylov can catch Teixeira with one of his big strikes, he has the chance to walk away with his hand raised. If Teixeira can withstand the attack, and catch Krylov in a compromising position and put him on the mat, Texeira should be the victor.
