UFC Fight Night 161 Odds, Preview & Expert Picks
Looking to Get Back on TrackJedrzejczyk needs something good to happen in this fight. Loser of three of her last four fights, the former champion desperately needs a victory in this one. Even though she has lost twice to Rose Namajunas, Jedrzejczyk still has a shot at another title chance. Many people feel that she is the most dominant fighter the division has ever seen. She uses her deadly striking ability to win fights. As far as the division goes, she’s more than likely the best striker in the division. She has a very good jab, and she has very fast hands. She is very quick on her feet as well, so opponents won’t want to get into a boxing match with her.
As for her opponent, Michelle “Karate Hottie” Waterson, she also needs a victory here if she ever wants a chance at a title shot. Known for her strong grappling ability, she has a fantastic ground game. She has numerous ways to take her opponents down, and once she does, it’s very hard to recover. Waterson’s strong suit is Jedrzejczyk’s weakness. She is weak when she’s in the defensive position, so if Waterson has any shot at winning this fight, she’ll need to take the Polish fighter down and keep her there.
If Joanna can use her strong takedown defense to keep Waterson on her feet, she has a great shot at winning this fight. Jedrzejczyk is the stronger striker, and is a better, more agile athlete than Waterson. If Waterson can get Joanna to the ground, all bets are off. This should be a fun fight with contrasting styles.
Co-Main EventThe co-main event of the evening should be a good one. 35 year old Cub Swanson takes on 31 year old Kron Gracie. Swanson enters the fight with a 25-11 career record. Swanson is currently on a four fight losing streak. The “Killer Cub” hasn’t won since April of 2017. He has lost seven of his ten fights via submission, so Swanson needs to stay on his feet.
Speaking of submissions, Kron Gracie, of the famous first family of MMA Gracies, has five career fights under his belt. All five of those fights have ended in victory via submission for Gracie. With a black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Gracie specializes in taking his opponent down and winning the grappling battle, ultimately leading to a submission maneuver.
