NBA Betting: Most Significant Player Injuries At the Moment

Written by on March 29, 2021

Injuries are a part of the game, but when it comes to the NBA injuries can take a huge toll on a team. This season, injuries have played a huge role in where teams sit in the standings. Many high profile players have suffered injuries this year, and that has had a huge effect on the team’s play. Let’s take a look at how some of the injuries to the league’s top players have caused their teams to suffer because of them. That being said, let’s get right to it so you can keep betting against their NBA odds.

NBA Player Injuries: Which Teams have been slacking without their top star players

Golden State Warriors

After not having Stephen Curry for most of last season, and Klay Thompson for all of last season, the Warriors were looking forward to the 2020-21 season. With a healthy Curry and Thompson, combined with Draymond Green, Andrew Wiggins, Kelly Oubre, and the second pick in the draft, James Wiseman, many predicted that the Warriors would be sitting near the top of the Western Conference.

Prior to the start of the season, it was announced that Klay Thompson had ruptured his achilles in a pick up game. That really hit the Warriors hard. Not having Thompson has crippled their playoff chances. They’re sitting in the play-in group right now. Without Thompson the Warriors now have a 22-24 record. Curry and Green have both missed numerous games due to injuries as well, so this has not been the season that the Warriors had anticipated having.

Los Angeles Lakers

The Lakers made lots of moves this past off season, and were the favorites to once again hoist the Larry O’Brien trophy. The Lakers were playing well, sitting near the top of the Western Conference standings. With all of the moves that they made, it was anticipated that they would once again be in the NBA Finals.

On Valentines Day, Anthony Davis attempted to drive to the rim, and pulled up lame with a calf injury. Since that day, Davis has not played another second. Even though he wasn’t having his greatest statistical season, he was still a huge key to the Lakers success. No one is really sure when Davis will return, but the Lakers will welcome him back, as they have fallen 5.5 games behind the West-leading Utah Jazz.

Just a little over a week ago, the Lakers suffered another huge blow. The Lakers were playing the Miami Heat when Solomon Hill went to dive for a loose ball. When he did this, he took LeBron James’s leg out from underneath him, causing James to sprain his ankle. When all was said and done, it was determined that James had suffered a high ankle sprain. It is anticipated that James will miss at least a month due to the severity of the injury.

Not having these two has caused the Lakers to go 5-5 in their last 10 games. We don’t anticipate the Lakers being real good while these two are out. Kyle Kuzma will be asked to step up his scoring, and the Lakers will also depend on newly-acquired Andre Drummond to help pick up the slack in scoring. We’ll see how far the Lakers fall in the standings without James and Davis.
