Top NBA Betting Picks of the Week – January 21st Edition

Dallas Mavericks over Los Angeles Clippers

The Dallas Mavericks may be the story of the year with their turnaround. Luka Doncic has helped bring Dallas to relevancy again. He is the catalyst that drives the Mavs. Dennis Smith Jr., Devin Harris, Harrison Barnes, and J.J. Berea help make this thing work, but Doncic was the missing piece. Now that they have their ball handler, their facilitator, and their leading scoring option, they are looking like a real contender once again. The Clippers, on the other hand, have a struggling team with an obvious need for such a superstar. Marcin Gortat, Avery Bradley, Lou Williams, and Tobias Harris are far from a stellar lineup. They also lack, outside of Lou Williams, any real experience with winning. I like the Clippers to continue losing and to work up a higher draft pick and try again next year. They currently rank 8th in the Western Conference and there’s no signs of Golden State, Houston or the Lakers slowing down so it may be in their best interest to hold off the rebuilding process for a while. At any rate, this game seems all but decided, just by looking at the rosters. I like the Dallas Mavericks to win this one by a score of 100 – 87.

Toronto Raptors at Indiana Pacers

The Toronto Raptors sent Demar DeRozan, their all-time leading scorer, away last season in a trade, but they received Kawhi Leonard in return. Leonard has stepped right in at has averaged over 27 points per game this season. Combine that with the production from Kyle Lowry and the Raptors will likely be one of the best regular season teams once again this year, something they’ve become quite familiar with over the past few years. The Raptors should be one of your NBA Betting picks of the Week. The Pacers are still trying to find a true identity since letting Paul George go. They do have hometown favorite, Victor Oladipo, but beyond that, they lack a true superstar to compete in the NBA night in and night out. I like the Raptors to win big on the road in this one with a score of 105 – 94.

Houston Rockets at New York Knicks

The Houston Rockets have proved to be one of the best teams in the Western Conference. James Harden is a major reason for that. Thus far this season, Harden leads the league in points per game and doesn’t show any signs of slowing down. He, unfortunately, also ranks first among all active players in turnovers as well. His style of play though makes up for it. He is tied for first in three-pointers made, second in the league in free throws made, and fourth in assists per game. He can nearly single-handedly defeat most teams, but having Chris Paul and Eric Gordon on his side makes the Rockets a tough out, but especially so when Harden is on the floor. The Knicks have one of the worst rosters in the league and I’ll take the Rockets to invade Madison Square Gardens and take a win back to Texas. I’ll take them to outscore the Knicks by a score of 113 – 85. Enjoy the week!
