NFL Betting Projections for NFC Conference Winners

Written by on December 13, 2018

While it’s mostly a trend throughout the entire postseason, home teams do particularly well in the conference championship game. Home teams have fared particularly well in this round as they have won 67-28 since the league’s merger in 1980. When the stakes are high, the home-field advantage can prove to be a decisive edge. Just look back to the 2018 playoffs where the young Jacksonville Jaguars held a 10-point, fourth-quarter lead on the road in New England but saw the Patriots rally to come back. Let’s take a look of the latest Odds to win the NFC.

NFL Betting Projections for NFC Conference Winners

Bet the Favorites

Overall, favorites have won at an incredible clip in the championship game, going 64-31 straight up and 52-41-2 against the spread. Typically, the big favorites do best as they are 17-8 against the spread since 1970.

Bet the No. 1 Seeds

Teams who claim the No. 1 seed in their conference are not a fluke. It means that the team has performed the best in their respective conference throughout the entire regular season and survived the playoffs to get to the Championship Game. No. 1 seeds do well in this spot as they have gone a perfect 9-0 straight up in the last five years. All in all, Vegas is smart. Vegas picks the spread and Vegas picks the favor in each matchup. Betting “chalk” is not a bad thing and it pays out more than it doesn’t but bettors will still lose a healthy amount as well. Favors don’t always cover, nor do they always win. The other thing betting “chalk” brings to bettors is an unexciting outcome in most cases. Betting “chalk” unless parlayed with other games and outcomes, will almost never get a bettor a big payout. Here are my picks for how the NFC will shake down:

Division champions

NFC East – Dallas Cowboys

This is the team that apparently wants it the most in the division. The Giants are surging at the right time, but I think it is just too little too late. The Redskins’ ship sailed with Alex Smith’s broken leg, and the Eagles have been an up and down team all season.

NFC West – Los Angeles Rams

They’ve already clinched and proven they belong in the discussion for “best team in the league”

NFC South- New Orleans Saints

That offense is crazy good and cray balanced. They find ways to get playmakers the ball and keep them involved. The Saints are NFL Betting favorites to win the NFC.

NFC North- Chicago Bears

The Bears snuck up on us all this season. Their offensive play calling and defensive dominance have been a staple to their winning ways. I don’t see it slowing down any time soon for them.

NFC Wildcard

Seattle Seahawks

Russell Wilson just keeps on winning. Their running game is legitimate and their defense is good enough.

Philadelphia Eagles

The Eagles have the Texans and the Redskins coming up. The Redskins should be a victory and I can see them beating the Texans. All season, they’ve played inconsistently. If they can come to play against Houston, they could very well come out victorious.
