ATP Men’s Singles Miami Open Betting Analysis – Upcoming Matches

Stefanos Tsitsipas v Lorenzo Sonego – Tuesday, March 30, 19:00 EDT

World no.5 Stefanos Tsitsipas will clash with the Italian rising star  Lorenzo Sonego in the fourth round of the 2021 Miami Open in what promises to be a straight-forward win for the Greek tennis star.

Tsitsipas enters this match in great form, having won both of his matches at the ATP Cup and made it to the top-eight at the Australian Open, where he beat Rafael Nadal after being down two sets. Unfortunately, Tsitsipas failed to overcome Daniil Medvedev in the semi-finals, regardless, it was a great run from the Greek.

Tsitsipas also looked fairly solid at the Rotterdam ATP 500, where he made it to the semi-finals, but lost to the eventual champion Andrey Rublev. Adding to that, Tsitsipas also made it to the quarters at Marseille and finals at the Acapulco Open last week, so it’s more than fair to say he has had a good season so far.

While Tsitsipas can be happy with his results in 2021, Lorenzo Sonego has had a somewhat indifferent season thus far. The Italian came into the tournament with a 4-6 record for the year, which is not exactly great, but it’s not all that bad either.

We must also remember that Sonego has stunned the no.1 Novak Djoković en route to the Vienna finals last year and won the Antalya Open in 2019. This year, however, Sonego’s best performance came in Montpellier where he bested Hugo Gaston and Sebastian Korda but lost to David Goffin in the quarter-finals.

While both players looked good this week, it’s very hard to make a case against Tsitsipas. He is a far more experienced player that has been reaching much higher heights than the Italian. There is a world where Sonego can surprise, but we wouldn’t count on it.

Prediction: Stefanos Tsitsipas to win 2-0.

Marin Cilic vs Andrey Rublev – Tuesday, March 30, 20:30 EDT

Andrey Rublev swept aside Tennys Sandgren and Marton Fucsovics to begin his ATP Miami Open journey in a formidable style and is now set to face off against Marin Cilic, who he has met with only three times since March 2019. The fourth-seeded Rublev has won all three of those bouts, although Cilic put up a solid fight last time out when he forced the Russian player to three sets at Adria Tour.

Even though Rublev is expected to win tonight, we have reason to believe he could be in for a tough match. The Croatian player is enjoying one of his best ATP Tour runs in a while, having beaten Federico Coria, Cristian Garin, and Lorenzo Musetti in games leading up to this one.

The question here is whether Cilic at his best is good enough to defeat Rublev, and while he definitely deserves some praise for his recent showings, we have to take into account that Rublev – like Cilic – is in great form. We would go even so far as to say that Rubles bears some resemblance to the player that won the US Open in 2014.

While we expect Rublev to win, the betting odds on Cilic to win at least one set are good enough for us to take a shot with him. We, however, don’t believe the Croat has it in him to upset the Russian.

Prediction: Marin Cilic to win a set
